Sometimes the simplest ideas turn out to be the best.

At the beginning of September, we decided to do something a little different at Vale Firelogs. We teamed up with Dinas Powys Sourdough to offer every customer a free freshly baked loaf of sourdough with their firewood order.

We thought people would enjoy it.

We didn’t quite expect just how much they’d enjoy it.

The response from our customers has been fantastic, so we’re delighted to say that we’re extending the promotion for another week.

Why firewood and sourdough?

On the face of it, firewood and sourdough might seem like an unusual combination.

But to us, they actually have quite a lot in common.

Both are simple, traditional products. Both are made better by taking time and doing things properly. And both somehow belong in the same picture: a warm home, a fire burning and good food on the table.

There’s also something particularly satisfying about being able to bring together two local businesses.

Vale Firelogs was born in the Vale of Glamorgan, and that local identity remains an important part of what we do. Wherever possible, we believe in supporting other independent businesses and keeping more of what we spend within our local communities.

Dinas Powys Sourdough felt like a perfect fit.

More than just a load of logs

Of course, our main job hasn’t changed.

We supply and deliver quality kiln-dried hardwood firewood to homes across the Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff and the surrounding areas.

But we’ve always felt that having a fire is about much more than simply heating a room.

There’s a reason people naturally gather around one.

A wood-burning fire changes the atmosphere of a home. It encourages you to slow down, settle in and enjoy being indoors. As the evenings begin to draw in and we head towards autumn, those small pleasures start to matter again.
